Understand the benefits and limitations of gamification in education.
There is a greater number of things to setup in a classroom to truly gamify it. This PD Tile is about KNOWING what these things are and what the concept of gamification is (and what it isn’t, game-based learning, for instance).
If you have not played a video game yourself in a while, it would be a good idea to try something for at least a few hours. An open-ended role-playing game (Fallout 3, Bioshock, Batman Arkham Origins, etc.) is perhaps the best way to experience some of the core principles of gamification, but there are some quick-to-play apps that can get you a feel of the basics (Angry Birds, Plants vs. Zombies, Candy Crush, etc.).
